Our Story

Sweet Crumb Bakery was founded in 2018 by Maria and James Thornton, a husband-and-wife team who turned their passion for baking into a neighborhood staple. What started as a small weekend farmers market stand quickly grew into a beloved storefront on Main Street.

Maria trained at the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, while James perfected the art of sourdough through years of home experimentation. Together, they bring a blend of classic European technique and homestyle warmth to everything that comes out of our ovens.

Our Baking Process

  1. Source fresh, local ingredients from partner farms each week
  2. Prepare doughs and batters from scratch before dawn
  3. Allow slow fermentation for maximum flavor development
  4. Hand-shape every loaf, roll, and pastry
  5. Bake in stone-deck ovens for the perfect crust
  6. Cool, finish, and display by opening time at 7:00 AM
